「ヴェニスの夏の日」は、1955年の映画、旅情（原題 Summertime）のテーマ音楽として作られた曲です。
この曲は、映画の舞台である ヴェネツィア の雰囲気と物語のロマンチックで少し切ない恋を表現するために作られました。
旅でヴェネツィアを訪れたアメリカ人女性、現地の男性と出会い、短い恋に落ちる。しかしやがて別れなければならない。
この 「夏のヴェネツィアでの束の間の恋」 を象徴するメロディとして作られたのが “Summertime in Venice（ヴェニスの夏の日）” です。
ゆったり流れるストリングスの旋律は、ヴェネツィアの運河、夏の光、旅先の恋の思い出をイメージして作曲された映画音楽です。
その後、この曲は映画を離れてマントヴァーニ楽団などの演奏で世界的なポピュラー曲になりました。
”Summertime in Venice” is a piece composed as the theme music for the 1955 film Summertime.
The music was written to express the atmosphere of Venice, the setting of the film, and the story’s romantic yet slightly bittersweet love.
An American woman visiting Venice on a trip meets a local man, and they fall into a brief romance. However, in the end they must part.
The melody “Summertime in Venice” was created to symbolize this fleeting love in summer in Venice.
Its gently flowing string melody evokes the canals of Venice, the summer light, and the memories of a romance experienced while traveling.
Later, the piece became widely known as a popular instrumental, performed by orchestras such as the Mantovani Orchestra and others, and eventually gained worldwide popularity beyond the film.
