June 29, 2020 – June 29 would have been Ray Harryhausen’s 100th birthday. Harryhausen (1920-2013), the artist & designer behind such film fantasy milestones as The 7th Voyage of Sinbad and Jason and the Argonauts, has influenced generations of filmmakers, visual effects artists, and animators, with his legendary stop-motion animation, known as “Dynamation".
Academy Award® winning visual and special effects artists Craig Barron, Ben Burtt, Dennis Muren and Phil Tippett come together in celebration of the work and life of Ray Harryhausen, the Master of Cinema Magic!
Richard Peterson, Director of Programming for the Smith Rafael Film Center, led a lively conversation with the group, hi-lighting clips from films Harryhausen worked on that inspired these four Oscar® winners to become the visual and special effects artists they are today.
