I was a content snob. Now I'm trying to catch up on style.
My Thoughts on Gracian's The Art of World Wisdom, Chapter 14.
This is the long version.
You can find the entire series at E.T. Hansen on Vimeo.com.
"The Art of Worldly Wisdom" is a 400-year-old classic of philosophy and is often considered one of the first self-improvement books - it was written specifically for men and women striving to achieve excellence or success, and every word is as true today as it was then.
I have completely revised the entire book – all 300 chapters – to make the language a little easier to understand for modern readers, and I am putting up the entire book, chapter for chapter, on YouTube so everyone has access to it.
The video version of the book (text only) is free. In addition to that, I am posting a commented version with my thoughts on each chapter, available on Vimeo.com (at E.T, Hansen).
My "Thoughtfully modernized edition" of the book will also soon be available as a book.
Gracian was a Jesuit in Spain of the 17th century and his masterpiece, "The Art of World Wisdom", is a brilliant description of what it takes be be successful in society a whole person in general, in 300 short chapters.
It is just as true today as it was then.
Eric T. Hansen is an American writer of fiction and non-fiction, in German and English, in Berlin.
Check out his videos on Vimeo.com (at E.T. Hansen) – they include videos on philosophy, creative writing, other subjects and some of my stories as complete video books.
