I cooked a beef and ravioli meal in Amazons most popular rice cooker, https://amzn.to/4oc6PfY using simple, inexpensive ingredients — and it turned out surprisingly delicious!
I didn’t film the prep work to keep things quick, but I walk you through everything as I open the cooker at the end. Inside, I cooked a Walmart hamburger patty with mushrooms, seasonings, dried onions, and a splash of very inexpensive red wine for flavor. Up in the steamer tray, I added six cheese raviolis and a handful of shredded green cabbage.
The whole thing cooked together on the regular rice setting, and the results were flavorful, rich, and amazingly cheap — right around $2–$2.50 for the entire meal. The hamburger came out tasty, though a little dry, and next time I’ll check the internal temperature earlier. But for a fast, low-cost, one-pot dinner, this worked incredibly well.
If you’re looking for easy meals on a tight budget or want new ideas for your Aroma rice cooker, this one might surprise you!
Estimated Meal Cost (Based on Your Prices)
Hamburger patty
$15 / 12 patties = $1.25
Mushrooms
A couple tablespoons — roughly 1–2 oz from a $3–$4 bag
Estimated cost: $0.20
Red wine
750 ml = ~3.17 cups
One ¼ cup used → 1/12.7 of the bottle
$4 / 12.7 ≈ $0.32
Water
Negligible, but we’ll count it as FREE
Seasonings (pepper, parsley, dried onion flakes)
Small portion: $0.10
Cheese ravioli
50 for $4.97 → $0.099 each
6 used → $0.59
Green cabbage
If a small cabbage costs roughly $1.00–$1.50 and yields 8–10 cups,
1 cup ≈ $0.15
Total Estimated Meal Cost: ~$2.61
If mushrooms or cabbage cost slightly less for you, it could drop closer to $2.25–$2.40.
Either way, it’s still a very inexpensive complete meal.
