When stitches need to be held aside during a project, you'll be asked to "slip stitches onto scrap yarn". It often comes up in patterns for the thumb or finger holes in gloves or the sleeves or body for sweaters.
This tutorial has no audio. Please turn subtitles on for extra guidance.
In this tutorial, we'll show you how to do this for gloves, but the same principle applies for another other garments too.
You'll just need enough scrap yarn to hold the necessary number of stitches. A yarn needle is helpful too, but not essential; you can just slip the stitches onto the scrap yarn one at a time if need be.
Towards the end of this video, you'll also find a tutorial for the backwards loop method, because this often follows immediately afterwards (but not always, so be sure to check your instructions).
