In this video, I demonstrate Beam Analysis in ANSYS Mechanical using different modeling approaches and compare the results with hand calculations. The process includes:
• Performing 1D Beam Analysis in ANSYS
• Performing 2D Beam Analysis in ANSYS
• Performing 3D Beam Analysis in ANSYS
• Hand calculations of stresses and deflections
• Comparing results of FEA (1D, 2D, 3D) with analytical hand calculations
ANSYS Mechanical primarily uses:
• 1D: Euler–Bernoulli + Timoshenko beam theory
• 2D: Plane stress/strain, axisymmetric, Mindlin–Reissner shell theory
• 3D: Full 3D elasticity theory, plus nonlinear extensions
