Russell Brand Charged With New Rape and Sexual Assault Offences

Описание: British broadcaster, comedian and actor Russell Brand has been charged with two additional criminal offences, including one count of rape and one count of sexual assault, the Metropolitan Police confirmed on Tuesday, December 23.

In a statement, police said the Crown Prosecution Service authorised the new charges following a review of evidence relating to two additional women. The new rape allegation is said to have occurred between February 7 and March 1, 2009, while the sexual assault charge relates to an alleged incident between August 31 and December 1, 2009.

Brand, 50, has previously pleaded not guilty to five charges, including two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault involving four women. Those original charges are scheduled for trial at Southwark Crown Court on June 16, 2026.

Brand is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 20, 2026, in connection with the newly authorised charges.

The police investigation began after allegations were first reported in September 2023 by the Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4’s Dispatches. Authorities have said the investigation remains ongoing.
