This is one amazing place that is filled with history, mines, museums, and fascination! We were able to visit in 2021 and so enjoyed our time that we decided to visit on our drive back to Oregon.

The Butte Trolley is a great way to take in the history, see the Bradley Pit, and hear just a bit of the intense history that is Butte, Montana! John's grandfather worked in the Kelly Mine back in the late 1800's and so the history was even more appealing to us. The shear number of countries represented that worked these mines will likely have you checking your own family history.

The population of Butte in the early 1900's was over 110,000 people. Today, the population is just under 35,000. The immense amount of copper, silver, and precious metals mined in this area gave it the name: "The Richest Hill on Earth."
