This occurred during an interview with Mo Ibrahim on public service and leadership in Africa. Paul Kagame is a Rwandan politician and former military leader. He is the 6th and current president of Rwanda, having taken office in 2000. Rwanda's economy has grown rapidly under Kagame's presidency, with GDP per capita estimated at $801 in 2019, compared with $218 in 2000, when he became the president.
