The PB silenced pistol was developed in the 1960s by the Soviet Union, based on the Makarov pistol, and featured a detachable integral suppressor to reduce firearm noise. It entered service in 1967 and has been used by various special forces, airborne troops, and the KGB special forces, although it is not widely known.
The pistol's bullet velocity after pressure relief is 290 meters per second, with an effective range of only about 25 meters, and it has been reported that the Belarusian death penalty unit once ordered the use of this pistol for the execution of several sensitive individuals, sparking varying opinions on how to view these reports.
