Описание: In this opening chapter of Gaslight, we are introduced to Bella as a young girl shaped by devotion, loss, and fantasy. Her world is small, her longing is large, and already the story is steeped in tragedy.


Bella adores her father. Her father adores her. Her mother is unstable and eventually taken away — an absence that Bella experiences not as loss, but as relief. When her father later dies, Bella’s entire emotional world collapses, and she is sent to live with relatives who see her more as opportunity than family.


This chapter is dense with myth, psychology, and quiet unease. Bella interprets her life through the lens of Greek tragedy — believing that suffering is her destiny, and that one day, because of that suffering, she will be rescued.


This is the beginning of a gothic journey that is as psychological as it is suspenseful.
