The ground level Tutuban to Alabang PNR Train Line is being closed from March 28, 2024 for five years to give way to the construction of the elevated North South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Project.
As a train enthusiast and a lover of history, I simply cannot let the time pass without taking the old train system for one last time.
It was a very nostalgic trip joining hundreds of commuters who made taking the trains as part of their daily routine. After March 28, they have to find an alternative mode of urban transportation that is inexpensive, efficient and more convenient.
I also took this opportunity retracing the trails of our national heroes, Jose Rizal and Andres Bonifacio, who had taken the train system to campaign for Philippine Independence. Our travels from Alabang station continued to the historic cities of Calamba, Santa Rosa and Binan, former PNR train stop-overs, as we explore the heritage attractions of these places.
