This is a John Sebastian tune most famously covered by The Everly Brothers, Jimmy Buffett and Tom Petty.
What an honor it is to have been making music with these guys for over two decades!
One of our annual traditions at the Fur Peace Ranch has been a performance by "The Posse" (FKA: "The October Posse"). During the course of the year our guitarist, mandolinist, vocalist and band leader Bob Doherty would pick out a tune which has lovingly been termed, "The Doherty Dirge." We have played some great tunes over the years and I always look forward to Bob's reveal of what the yearly tune will be.
This was recorded on the stage of the Fur Peace Station at the legendary Fur Peace Ranch in Pomeroy, Ohio.
