As a product manager at an EV manufacturing company, I'm responsible for the data quality of the products.
In order to distinguish the features of our cars, we use class and characteristic values on our material master record.
Sales executives rely on these master data attributes whilst building insights into the sales figures of different car configurations.
Therefor we need to ensure these product features are assigned to our master data, every EV product should have at least one battery configuration assigned.
SAP Master Data Governance; Data Quality Management will allow us to define business Validation rules which can be enabled within the maintenance processes.
Besides running the validation rules in the MDG processes, they can also be enabled for evaluation of ‘active’ records to provide insight including the ability to initiate data remediation.
Going into the Data Quality Evaluation overview, we can see the data quality trendline on our dashboard along with some metrics and scores.
As we see the trendline moving in the wrong direction for Basic Data, it appears that corrective actions are required.
Using the different views and filtering options we're able to see the scores by the rule and identify the one causing the trendline going down.
With an intuitive navigation we're able to evaluate the results of the rule identifying the objects with errors.
We select the ones "Not OK' as we want to list these out for corrective actions.
Now let's change the view to focus more on the actual products failing the rule.
Furthermore we have options to add additional object information in the result list.
In the result list we can click on the product number to: view details-and initiate data remediation individually.
We can also click on the Rule ID to view the details of the validation rule. This includes technical details and metadata like the rule owner and business reason.
To initiate data remediation; different options are available.
Selected items or simply all-of them can be exported for ‘offline’ remediation in eg. Excel. These corrections can then be uploaded into MDG Mass Processing to make them effective.
These selected or all items can also be processed directly in MDG Mass Processing.
The current view, with filters applied, can also be saved as a tile or shared with a colleague to take over the remediation and initiate data corrections.
In this example we will start the data remediation for a single item directly from MDG Central Governance by choosing "Change Material - Governance’
This will lead us to MDG Central Governance in which a Change Request process to update the material master can be initiated.
