PM Modi’s first visit to Manipur since 2023 violence

Описание: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a massive development push in Manipur during his first visit to the state since ethnic violence between Meiteis and Kukis erupted in May 2023. At a programme held at Kangla Fort in Imphal, Modi inaugurated 17 projects worth around ₹1,200 crore, including the new Manipur Police Headquarters at Mantripukhri (₹101 crore) and the state’s new Civil Secretariat (₹538 crore). He also unveiled Manipur Bhavans in Delhi and Kolkata, the second phase of Imphal River western front development, Mall Road upgrades, four new ‘Ima’ (mothers) markets, Leishang Hiden Cultural & Heritage Park, and infrastructure upgrades for government colleges. Modi inaugurated a four-lane bridge over the Irang River on NH-37 and new institutional buildings at Saikot CHC in Churachandpur. From Churachandpur, he laid foundation stones for projects worth over ₹7,300 crore, including the Manipur Urban Roads & Drainage initiative (₹3,647 crore), Manipur Infotech Development project (₹550 crore), working women’s hostels, healthcare, school upgrades, a multipurpose indoor stadium, and NH-102A upgradation.
