Epic $22 Cable Car In Kathmandu 🇳🇵

Описание: Join me on one of the best day trips you can do from Kathmandu, Nepal — a visit to the famous Chandragiri Cable Car and Chandragiri Hills! This spot is an absolute must-see if you're exploring Nepal and looking for epic views of the Himalayas, delicious local food, and authentic cultural experiences.

I started my journey by taking a motor taxi from Thamel, Kathmandu to the Chandragiri Cable Car Station. The ride up to Chandragiri Hills costs 22 USD for foreigners (locals get a cheaper rate). I jokingly tried pretending to be a local Nepali, but of course, it didn’t work because I don’t look Nepali — had to give it a shot though!

Once on board the cable car, the ride was incredibly scenic. It moves slowly, giving you time to take in the lush green forests, rolling hills, and sweeping views of the Kathmandu Valley down below. The Chandragiri Cable Car ride is known as one of the most scenic cable car rides in Nepal, and you’ll see why in this video.

At the top, it was a little chilly, so a quick tip — bring a light jacket if you visit, especially during mornings or late afternoons. I met some lovely tourists from Bangladesh who shared stories about their travels. That’s one of the things I love about traveling in Nepal — the people you meet along the way.

There’s a lot to do on Chandragiri Hills:

Visit the beautiful Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple, an important Hindu site

Walk to the Chandragiri View Tower, which is free with your cable car ticket and offers panoramic views of the Himalayas, including a chance to spot Mount Everest on clear days

Explore local shops and food stalls selling Nepali street food and snacks

Try adrenaline activities like the Chandragiri Zipline (for the adventure seekers!)


And yes — I was lucky enough to see Mount Everest in the far distance! Totally unexpected and such a special moment to capture the Himalayas, Mount Everest, and the beautiful temple in one frame.

For food, I stopped at a food corner and tried my first-ever veg momos — delicious steamed Nepali dumplings filled with vegetables and served with spicy chili sauce. They cost 250 Nepali rupees and tasted amazing. Momos are a famous Nepalese street food you must try when visiting Nepal. Afterward, I ordered a sweet, refreshing lassi — a traditional Nepali yogurt drink that’s perfect after spicy food.

After a few hours of exploring, relaxing on the view terraces, and taking photos of the mountain views and Kathmandu cityscape, I visited the temple for a blessing and made my way back down via the Chandragiri Cable Car to Kathmandu.
