I AM SACRAMENTO FIRE: THE RESILIENT JOURNEY OF MISTY COLE

Описание: Misty Cole’s drive to serve started early when she learned her grandfather was a Marine. Determined to follow in his footsteps, she joined the Marine Corps and later found her calling as a firefighter paramedic.

In 2004, she joined the Sacramento Fire Department as a paramedic intern. Some said she couldn’t do it, but that only fueled her determination. She went on to become a firefighter paramedic and eventually joined the Arson Unit, with the encouragement and support of her husband.

When he passed away unexpectedly in 2023, Misty continued honoring their shared passion for BMX. Today, she travels with his granddaughter, competing and keeping his memory alive through the sport they both loved so much.

Fast forward to September 4, 2024, Misty’s birthday, when she received a powerful reminder of why she continues to serve. As she stopped by Station 30, a man pulled in frantically asking for help because his wife in the car wasn’t breathing. Without hesitation, Misty jumped into action, and her training kicked in. Her lifesaving efforts helped save that woman’s life. She calls it a blessing that on her birthday she was in the right place at the right time, giving one family the gift of more time together and sparing them the pain she knows all too well.

Though her role as an arson investigator is different from her paramedic days, the heart of a first responder has never left her. The pain of loss is still there, but so is the comfort of knowing she continues to make a difference, living proof that nothing has ever stopped her from achieving what she sets her mind to.
