For this transfer I used a Diamond VC500 usb adaptor to connect the S-Video output from a JVC S3600U VCR I got off ebay. I used the stock software that came with the VC500 to capture the video and audio to my 2010 Mac Pro tower, and then processed it with Filmora... Because freaking iMovie 10 doesn't like 4:3 aspect ratio, and I'm too lazy to figure out how to go back to iMovie 9. :-(
This training video was (of course) made at the direction of GM, they probably own the rights to it, and they maintain the right to slap whatever advertising they want before this video.
Update, apparently "Nukem - Killer Tracks" has put a copyright claim on the music used in this video. If GM wants to claim this video too, things might get interesting.
Let the corporate battle over copyright begin.
