Wave Faces: Meet Cornwall Surfer and Sculptor, Holly Bendall

Описание: Holly Bendall is a sculptor, surfer and all-round good person who lives in the far western reaches of Cornwall in the UK. Home is a 10-minute drive away from a variety of different waves.

Although in her younger years Holly was a skater and BMXer, it was surfing that really unlocked life for her. There’s also a bunch of similarities between surfing and sculpting. “As a surfer, your day is determined by the tide,” she said. “Like with sculpture and art, you never really switch off from it either, you’re always thinking about it and it creeps into every area of your life. Being a surfer and a sculptor, these are the ways I want to live my life.”

And what better place to live than the Duchy of Cornwall. A home of lots of creative little pockets, smashed together for an eclectic mix of artists, steel-workers, photographers, designers and even witchcraft (yes, really) and so much more. All nestled into quaint surf towns along hundreds of miles of rugged coastline.

With two of her sculptures already cast in bronze overlooking one of Cornwall’s favourite waves, Holly’s firmly embedded herself in this wonderful part of the country. This is her story.
