Making Tesla’s HomeLink work with a community gate remote!

Tesla’s HomeLink feature works great for home garage doors when you have access to the learn button on the main box. The problem comes when you try to setup a community gate remote to HomeLink. Since the community gate remote uses secure rolling codes it would require access to the gates learn button which is normally locked away and requires a key to access it. Last communities won’t give you access to this button to add your car and instead sell you a remote to keep inside your car.
In this video, I show how I came up with an idea to still be able to use my Tesla‘s integrated home link features with the community gate remote. First, I drew out a sketch on paper and then collected all the required parts and designed a a box to enclose everything into. I printed out the box on a 3-D printer and it turned out pretty well.
Now I can just plug it into my car and forget about it. The car is on screen home link features will control the community gate remote.
