part four of our series. We chose a recipe from a World War 2 rations recipe book " war-time cookery to save fuel and food value" issued in the national food campaign exhibition 1940. This episodes recipe is Pineapple Salad chosen via the channel community posts in a poll of 3 recipes... a recipe using basic ingredients of lettuce, tinned pineapple rings, cream cheese, lettuce, walnuts and cooked dates. This meal makes a basic but tasty pudding and requires no cooking in preparation. Already, this series shows some stark contrasts with our modern eating habits.. the ingredients are less processed and healthier, and the portion sizes are drastically smaller than present-day eating habits. I had a lot of fun making this recipe with my daughter and look forward to creating the other recipes in this booklet hopefully with the help of my daughter.
