Описание: The question of whether a “men’s commission” will bring justice to men in Kerala is deeply connected to a larger issue: the mental health condition of men in the state. Both topics are emotionally charged and socially complex, requiring a balanced and evidence-based view.

First, let us understand the present situation. Data from Kerala clearly shows that men are facing serious mental health challenges. Reports indicate that nearly 79–82% of suicide victims in Kerala are men, which highlights a disturbing trend. Many of these men are married and often struggle with family conflicts, financial pressure, and social expectations. At the same time, studies show that men are less likely to speak openly about their emotional struggles—about 40% of Indian men do not openly discuss mental health issues due to stigma.

This clearly suggests that men’s mental health in Kerala is not “OK.” It is a silent crisis. Society often expects men to be strong, emotionally controlled, and financially responsible. These expectations create internal pressure, but there are very few safe spaces for men to express vulnerability. As a result, problems remain hidden until they become severe.

Now, coming to the idea of a “men’s commission.” Supporters argue that such a body is necessary because Kerala already has institutions like the Kerala Women's Commission, which specifically address women’s issues. They believe a similar commission could help men deal with issues like false legal cases, family disputes, mental stress, and social neglect.

Additionally, initiatives like Mission Men's Commission show that there is a growing demand for structured support systems for men, including legal guidance and mental health counseling.

However, critics raise important concerns. They argue that the problem is not simply the absence of a commission, but a broader lack of gender-sensitive mental health policies. Some also worry that certain men’s rights movements may shift focus away from genuine issues and create unnecessary gender conflict instead of promoting equality.

So, will a men’s commission bring justice?

The answer is: it can help—but it is not a complete solution.

A men’s commission could:

Provide a formal platform for grievances
Offer legal and psychological support
Bring visibility to men’s mental health issues

But real change requires more than just a new institution. Kerala needs:

Better mental health infrastructure for all genders
Social awareness to remove stigma around men expressing emotions
Family and community-level support systems
Balanced legal frameworks that ensure fairness for both men and women

In conclusion, men in Kerala are clearly facing a mental health crisis, and ignoring it is dangerous. A men’s commission may be a step forward, but it will only be effective if it focuses on support, mental health, and fairness, rather than conflict. The real goal should not be “men vs women,” but a healthier, more empathetic society for everyone
