The thing with Henry VIII is that for many women at court, when the King wished for them to become their mistress, very few refused. Anne Boleyn was one of the very few who resisted and insisted that the King should make her his Queen before they got intimate. Many women at court saw it as their duty to become the King’s mistress, as it was deemed to help their families status out, and they wished to get grants of land and other benefits.
