BATTERY PROBLEM Vs. STARTER PROBLEM:
When the battery is bad/going bad the vehicle has power but it is not enough to fully start the vehicle. Therefore, when we try to start the vehicle the lights on the dash / instrument panel / gauges will flicker, or in other words car cranks but wont start (cranks but no start). And if we switch-on the headlights they will be dim / will have lower power and if we try to start vehicle with headlights on the headlights will flicker while vehicle is trying to start. Engine cranks but does not start vehicle... and all along you can hear the starter trying to start vehicle.

SIGNS OF A STARTER GOING BAD:
Symptoms of a bad starter are easy to identify. When the starting motor or engine starter motor is going bad and we try to start the vehicle, the lights on the instrument gauge / dash will not flicker, the starter will simply not even try to start the vehicle. In other words, no crank no start. If this happens, turn the key to off and then on and try to start vehicle and make sure the brake paddle is pressed. After a few tries the vehicle will start. These starter problem symptoms get worse quick.

REASON FOR BAD STARTER?
Starter solenoid of an automobile starter degrades over time. Once the starter engine develops the issue, the problem will get worse quickly and will eventually leave you stranded. It is time to find out cost to replace starter motor or rebuild starter motor. See details in video linked above:

IF YOU ARE STRANDED DUE TO STARTER PROBLEM:
** Find starter under vehicle, bang on it with wrench **
How?
Lift vehicle on scissor/jack on the driver side wheel
Take spare wheel from trunk, place under driver wheel
Take metal wrench meant for opening wheel lug nuts
Take floor mat from car, place under vehicle engine
Lay down on the floor mat under car engine
Find starter under vehicle, bang on it with wrench
Do this a few times and then start vehicle
When vehicle starts, do not turn it off!

STARTER ISSUE IN MY 2013 HONDA ACCORD LX
My 2013 Accord LX 4 cylinder started having issues with engine starting around 110K miles when sometimes car would take more than a few attempts to start and other times it started just fine on first attempt. The no crank no start situation got worse over time and by 115K miles it was a full blown issue and often the car wouldn't start on first attempt - the starter wouldn't crank / engage at all until several tires thats when I started recording the issue and knew I needed a new starter soon. Starter motor price depends on whether we buy a reconditioned starter motor, or an OEM (new or used).
