Welcome to the Asoona Channel.
We are Medina and Muqaddar, a family living in the rugged Doora Valley of the Zagros Mountains (Iran).
Living on the Edge Our life is a battle against nature. We currently live in a small stone hut right next to the wild Khersan River, which constantly threatens to flood and undermine our home.
A Mother's Nightmare Medina always feared living so far from the road during her pregnancy. Tragically, that fear came true. We recently lost our newborn baby because we could not reach a hospital in time.
The Fight for a New Home We are now taking a huge risk to change our future. We have bought a plot of land near the main road to build a safe home reachable by vehicle, but the cost is high.
