Bali opens and nothing happens. Bali opened to domestic tourism in July but there was little impact felt from domestic tourists with less than 5% of hotel beds occupied.
The original plan was to reopen Bali to international travel in September but those days came and went with no international tourists allowed in the country. Many of the hotels, restaurants and service industry are closed either temporarily or permanently.
Now the reopening is schedule for January 2021.
We visited Sanur to get a picture of how the locals are handling the pandemic. We did not do an official count but estimated that 70-80% of the businesses on the main road were closed. Those businesses that were open had little or no guests, no customer and no traffic.
It's very sad to see so many businesses closed now in Bali. We hope Bali will reopen and recover soon!
We sincerely HOPE that Bali will reopen in January as scheduled. We LOVE Bali! Hope you can visit Bali soon!
