February 16, 1993 - Mark Aguirre was a hard 33 in basketball years. Nagging injuries and an ever-increasing waistline left his playing time and impact in peril with Ron Rothstein's 1992-93 Pistons outfit. What you're seeing here is Mark in the midst of his last stand, on the front end of a six-game stretch in which he averaged over 22 points per game on 50 percent shooting. Against the Magic, Aguirre scored 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting in a 124-120 overtime win.
Alas, once February ended, so did Aguirre's Cinderella run, as nagging injuries caught up and latched on. Aguirre's production henceforth fell off a cliff, averaging just five points per game on 30 percent shooting over his final 12 appearances with the team.
