Is Clean Heat really cleaner, brighter, and hotter than regular paraffin lamp oil… or is it just marketing? 🔥 In this quick (and kinda fun) lantern test, I put them head-to-head in the same lantern to keep it as fair as possible.
Here’s what I did:
Ran paraffin lamp oil for ~15 minutes
Checked the hottest spots using a thermal imaging camera
Emptied the lantern, swapped to a new wick, and flushed with Clean Heat
Repeated the same burn time and flame adjustment (right below soot)
Results? The thermal cam showed a big difference (my readings were ~43°F vs ~514°F), and Clean Heat let me run a larger flame before soot—which usually means more light and more heat. 😳
That said, this is a rudimentary test with variables (wick, fuel quality, setup, emissivity), so don’t treat it like lab data.
