Naiara Tamminga took on a Grand Rapids commission meeting and read a room full of adults after her friend was gunned down.

“I don’t trust any of you. I don’t trust any of the police officers because you have shown time and time again that we cannot trust you," she boldly stated at the podium.

“I go to City High Middle School. Just voted the top high school. Top high school in the state,” she continued. “You know what they teach us? Teach us to speak up for yourself. We’re IB learners, right? We’re smart. None of you are smart?”

Inspired by Sean “Diddy” Combs’ successful “State Of Emergency: The State of Black America & Coronavirus” town hall, “REVOLT BLACK NEWS” is a platform that is designed to report news from the perspective of Black people for Black people.

“When I started REVOLT, I always wanted to develop a platform to report the news from our perspective, from our lens, from our people, so I decided to launch ’REVOLT BLACK NEWS.’” said Combs. “We’re here with solutions. We’ve already heard about what we can’t do, but this is what we can do.”
