recording in St. Leodegar in Niederehe, Eifel region, Germany with Marion Kutscher and Michael Frangen, natural trumpets (clarini) and Hans-André Stamm at the Balthasar König organ from 1714.
The two movements are from Suite in D major, in which Handel arranged pieces from his Water Music.
Natural trumpets are the original baroque trumpet instruments without valves or flaps only able to play the notes of the overtone series, little venting holes allow intonation corrections.The original meantone tuning of the König organ has been preserved resp. restaured with pure thirds (just intonation) in C and G major chords, perfectly resonating with the trumpet tones.
This recording is part of a project for “Neustart Kultur” featuring the organ as the instrument of the year 2021.
