THE NEW 45 EXPLAINED | Cut TWICE and EXTENDED to Morden Replacing the 118 (Bus Changes)

Описание: On the 1st of February 2025, London bus route 45 was changed. Before February, the 45 ran from Elephant & Castle to Clapham Park. On the 1st of February, the route was withdrawn between Elephant & Castle and Camberwell Green. The 45 has also been cut between Clapham Park and Streatham Hill. The route was then extended to Morden. This change has led to the withdrawal of route 118. The 45's new extension has completely covered this route.

Route 59 has replaced the 45's withdrawn section between Clapham Park and Streatham Hill. This route was rerouted from Streatham Hill, Telford Avenue to terminate at Clapham Park.

No routes have been changed to replace the section between Elephant & Castle and Camberwell Green.

Route 45's frequency has now been changed. The route previously ran around every 10 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes. The 45 now runs every 12 minutes at these times.
Route 45 runs every 15 minutes on Sundays.

This is a positive change for users of the 118. Put simply, the 118 was extended to Camberwell and renumbered to the 45.

Route 45 has also retained by Transport UK. The route will keep its hybrid Enviro400 MMCs until 2030. ADL BYD Enviro400 City EVs will continue to appear on the route. These are allocated to route 63.

Route 45's peak vehicle requirement has increased. The route now uses 17 buses instead of 15.

Users of route 118 have now recieved a better service. They now have a direct link to Camberwell Green as well as a Sunday frequency increase. Route 118 ran every 20 minutes on Sundays wheras route 45 now runs every 15 minutes at these times.

Before the change, route 45 ran from Elephant & Castle to Clapham Park. The route ran via Elephant & Castle Station, Camberwell Road, Camberwell Green, Loughborough Junction Station, Brixton Police Station, Brixton Station, Brixton Water Lane and Streatham Hill.

Route 45 now runs from Camberwell Green to Morden. The route runs via Loughborough Junction Station, Brixton Police Station, Brixton Station, Brixton Water Lane, Streatham Hill, Christchurch Road, Telford Avenue, Streatham Hill Station, Mount Ephraim Road, Becmead Avenue, Streatham St Leonard's Church, Streatham Station, Greyhound Lane, Streatham Common Station, Braeside Road, Greyhound Terrace, Northborough Road, Sherwood Park Road, Tamworth Park, Three Kings Pond, Mitcham Upper Green East, Glebe Court, Mitcham Cricket Green, Mitcham Tram Stop and Morden Hall Road.

Route 45 commenced operation on the 1st of October 1950. The route originally ran from Battersea to Farringdon Street. The route ran via Clapham, Brixton, Camberwell and Elephant & Castle. The route was extended to South Kensington Station in 1951.

In February 1961, the 45 was extended to Hampstead Heath. The route was then cut to King's Cross in 1972. In 1978, the route was extended from Kings Cross to Archway. Route 45 was then withdrawn between South Kensington and Brixton in 1990. The route was also cut between Archway and King's Cross at the same time. In 1994, the route was extended from Brixton to Streatham Hill, Telford Avenue. And in 1998, route 45 was rerouted to Clapham Park, Atkins Road.

On the 15th of June 2019, the 45 was withdrawn between King's Cross and Elephant & Castle. Route 40 partially replaced the 45.
