The #GovernmentofNationalCapitalTerritoryofDelhi (Amendment) Act, 2021 (or the #GNCTDAmendmentAct) was enacted by the Government of India on 28 March 2021. It amends the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi Act, 1991 to give primacy to the centrally appointed #LieutenantGovernor of Delhi and make the elected #GovernmentofDelhi subsidiary. The elected government will now have to seek the opinion of the Lieutenant Governor for any executive action.

The Amendment was widely critisized by the Delhi's ruling #AamAadmiParty for demolishing the #federalstructure of the government by transferring the power of an elected government to the Lieutenant Governor,while the government reiterated that this act was needed for Structural Clarity.The act was also widely critisized by the top bureaucrats of the country as there is no clarity as to what proposal or matters are required to be submitted to Lieutenant Governor before issuing order thereon.
