This video has been commissioned by National Poetry Day (https://nationalpoetryday.co.uk), and was created to work as a standalone resource for keystage 1 and 2 – get pen and paper ready then you can just press play and enjoy watching your class write some poetry!

It will help to read the group the text on the pause screens as a reminder, and also to encourage them each time to be as detailed and specific with their answers as they can. Support them to say yes to their own ideas – just get something down, no matter how simple, and then let it build from there.

Some children might prefer to work in pairs or groups- this can be fun, provided they’re willing to share control over the choices about their dream day!
