Since 2014, Altrichia Cook Wilcox and her nonprofit organization, Mentoring Agency for Maternal Adolescents (M.A.M.A) Inc., have mentored, empowered, and positively transformed the lives of teen parents through the annual Sweetheart Seminar, hosted in partnership with the Polk County Schools Teen Parent Program. Although this population is often overlooked or counted out, the Sweetheart Seminar exists to affirm their worth, strengthen their self-love and self-awareness, and encourage student parents to delay subsequent pregnancies, pursue their education, and build thriving futures for themselves and their children.
