The series is about a man (Marty) whose life is taken over by his psychiatrist (Ike). Ike is able to take advantage of Marty under the guise that he is the only thing preventing Marty from spiraling into destruction. Ike convinces Marty to exile family members from his life; to sign over his accounts to Ike; to give Ike presidential power over his family business; to relinquish control of his own house...
30 years later, Marty realizes that he had control of his life after all. Life was - if a bit rocky at times- much better without his narcissistic psychiatrist calling the shots.
