We Made a BIG Mistake! How to Rebuild a Custom Rondel Stained Glass Leaded Window

Описание: In this video, we're showing you the REAL behind-the-scenes drama of being a stained glass fabricator. While it doesn't happen every day, sometimes we make big mistakes—and then we have to fix them. In this case, we built this custom rondel window to the wrong size. Since this panel was to be insulated, we needed to make an additional calculation after acquiring measurements. We got it right on the width, but not the height. As a result, we made the panel 1" too tall.

If the design were an abstract or landscape style, we would likely be able to just cut apart the panel on one side and adjust the design. However, since each of these rondel circles needed to be fit "perfectly" within the frame, we had to make the difficult decision to take the entire piece apart. We considered building a completely new panel, but we didn't have quite enough rondels. We would have had to order new custom rondels, which could take months. While it took us several weeks, the fastest and most cost-effective choice was to completely take apart and rebuild.

After painstakingly disassembling every piece, we ground down each rondel to the new size and recut each clear piece to the new dimensions. The good news is that we've finished the job and have installed the panel into its new home! And of course, we learned a few lessons along the way.
