Peak District - 2 Nights Solo Wild Camping

Описание: With the Derwent Valley weather forecast looking great for the next few days, I took myself over to the Peaks for a 2 night adventure. Because of the forecast temperatures, I decided that on this trip I would go at rambling speed and not at hiking speed, although to be honest, anyone who has ever walked with me would say that I always go at rambling speed, lol.

For night 1, I decided to head up to Alport Castles. It had been over 10 months since I last camped up at Alport Castles, so it was long overdue for another visit. There's something special about this place, especially in the morning light, when you're looking down upon the tower with a brew.

Day 2 and I set off down Birchinlee Pasture and through the woodland. I stopped at the bottom of the woodland by the stream, where I had a cup of tea. After that, I made my way along the shore of Howden Dam towards the Packhorse Bridge and Slippery Stones. Once at the Packhorse Bridge, I stopped for a lengthy lunchbreak and had some pasta and soup.

After lunch, I made my way up Little Cut Gate and headed for Bull Stones. I was relying on the fresh water spring up at Bull Stones flowing, and I wasn't disappointed once I arrived. The spring was flowing and I filled up on crystal clear, cool, water. This was a perfect place to spend my second night. The view from Bull Stones is simply out of this world. I had an excellent evening here and went to bed with a big smile on my face.

In the morning, to my surprise, I didn't wake up until 9 o'clock. However, there was no rush to get moving as Bull Stones is a fairly remote type of place, and there's a minimum chance of meeting someone else there. So I took my time packing up and didn't get moving until it was past 11 o'clock.

I eventually decided to head back down Little Cut Gate (instead of Howden Clough), because I wanted to walk along the shores of both Howden and Derwent Dams, as I've always enjoyed this route and its accompanying views along the way. I stopped at the bottom of Little Cut Gate and drank some lovely cool water from the stream to refresh myself. After that, I walked along the Howden and Derwent Dam shorelines and headed back to the car.

This was a fantastic 2 nights out in the Peak District. I enjoyed this trip so much, that it will definitely be a memory that I'll often remember with a certain degree of fondness.
