Описание: An Indigenous led team of young lawyers from the Pacific make history during the first-ever climate hearings at the world's highest court, opening the way for more ambitious climate action.
This inspiring, real-life courtroom drama is an uplifting example of how we can tackle the climate crisis together. Blue Ocean Law represents Vanuatu at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and coordinates the arguments of other climate vulnerable states in the Pacific, Caribbean and Africa.
The process was initiated by students from the Pacific (PISFCC) with Vanuatu heading the diplomatic campaign and winning majority support at the United Nations.
The ICJ Advisory Opinion on Climate Change will be used to hold states accountable in courts around the world and to shape climate policy. It will be high on the agenda at the First Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels, along with the negotiations for a historic Fossil Fuel Treaty to advance international cooperation for a just transition.
