Описание: The University of Limerick (UL) is a public research university in Limerick, Ireland. Established in 1972 as the National Institute for Higher Education, Limerick, it became a university in September 1989 under the University of Limerick Act 1989. It was the first university founded in Ireland after gaining independence in 1922, followed by Dublin City University.

UL's campus spans both sides of the River Shannon on a 137.5-hectare (340-acre) site, with 46 hectares (110 acres) on the north bank and 91.5 hectares (226 acres) on the south bank at Plassey, County Limerick, approximately 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) from the city center. The university has over 11,000 full-time undergraduate students, including more than 2,400 international students, along with 1,500 part-time students. Additionally, there are over 800 research postgraduates and 1,300 postgraduate students enrolled.

UL's cooperative education program ("co-op") provides students with work placements of up to eight months as part of their degree, making it the first of its kind in Ireland.
