There are three main types of spatial patterns in human settlement: clustered, scattered, and linear. Understanding these patterns can help us to understand the forces that shape the way that people live and the impacts on the environment.
This short video is intended to be a "minds on" or "action" activity for students in a geography class. While it was designed to connect to the Ontario Grade 8 geography curriculum (see curriculum expectations below), it can be used by a number of different programs relating to the topics of Global Settlement: Patterns and Sustainability.
