So I made basically all of this, minus the last 20 seconds or so yesterday. I uh, wanted to get it done before vidding to the second part of Skins Fire. So yeah. Mission accomplished!

Okay, I had a whole rant I was going to do about how much I adore Alicia's character, but now my brain is scrambled and I can't say it properly it seems. So here are two main points:

• I am always blown away by how compassionate and caring Alicia is. Like, she says that she wants the war to be about more than just people killing people, but that's a really easy thing to say, then not act on. Even if they are fighting for their neutrality, it certainly wouldn't be out of line for them to dislike the Imperials, what they're doing and what they're forcing them to go through. In war, it would be even more expected. But Alicia doesn't do that. When that wounded solider walks into that cabin she and Welkin are hiding in, she goes waaay above and beyond what anyone would be expected to do. I mean, they tried to help him, they know that he's going to die, it would be totally acceptable to give up at that point. But Alicia sits there with him and pretends to be his mother for him in order to put his mind at ease while he dies. And that's just like, the epitome of compassion there, I think. It's barely going to matter past a few minutes, but she does it anyway, for someone who's fighting on the opposite side.

• She says that she's willing to do anything to protect Bruhl and the people in it, and she actually means it. She comes ridiculously close to actually giving her life to save Gallia. And it means all the more considering how much she had to lose at that point. She wants to just live a nice life with Welkin once the war is over, but she's willing to give up all her future happinesses for the sake of the country.

So yeah final point I love Alicia and do not understand people who dislike her character. Also I shudder to think of what I've heard they've done to her in the anime and continue to deny its existence.
