The last thing I remember was waking up in the hospital. A nurse was just now taking a breathing machine off my face. Kaylie looked up at me with cold, glossy eyes.
"Kaylie..." it was hard to talk. My voice sounded distorted. To be honest, I sounded like Kermit the frog.
"Yes, Justin?" She came by my side and put her hands in my hair. It felt really nice to have her touch on my face. "What happened?"
"What do you remember?"
"I remember...Adam being trapped in the corner of the room." She started to quietly sob. I stood up but my back hurt too much to do so.
"What happened to Adam?!" Panic heated up my lungs and I could hardly breathe.
"Let's talk about this later..."
"He died, didn't he?" Tears built up in my eyes and I moaned quietly.
She just looked away.
"He's not dead, okay? He's not okay though." She pulled the room divider up, and I saw a motionless body sitting arched up in a bed. Half of his face was burned -- actually straight down the middle -- but with his un touched side of his face I could tell who it was.
"Adam?"
His face turned slowly. Half of it was black, like how burnt toast looks. (Bad Example) The other half was the beautiful side. The guy that I loved.
"Are you okay?" I choked. His head arched out and he tried to speak. When he did it was in a low whisper. "I guess so..."
"Kaylie?" I called. She was in the back of the room; probably thinking. "Yes?"
"Did Adam's grandparents die?"
I didn't think he knew either, because he suddenly became more attentive when he heard my question.

Hope you guys liked the marathon. Sorry it's so dramatic, I'm going to have some normal chapters soon. I just wanted to make a twist that would make this marathon interesting. PLEASE tell me what you think -- whether it be suggestions or comments, I'm all ears.
