UN and Red Cross helicopters spent the day searching the desolate mountainous landscape for survivors and assessing the extent of the damage from Saturday's huge quake. The UN and Red Cross planes resumed the influx of relief supplies to holding areas, including food, tents and medical stocks.

SOT Rupert Colville, UN (in English) "So basically that is undercutting or underlining everything we are doing right now. There is a desperate need for helicopters. The Shari-Bezork region especially is only accessible by helicopter you cannot get there by donkey, foot or car in a realistic time."
