Cambrils is a city and municipality in Catalonia located in the Baix Camp region. Traditionally, it has been considered to be made up of two nuclei, the town and the port. Today, these two nuclei are fully integrated, thanks to recent urban growth. However, there is also evidence of some smaller population centers with notable variability throughout history, such as the Teixells nuclei (to the west of the Samà Park), Mas d'en Bosc, and the term of la Grassa or Vilagrassa. Of these nuclei, the former term of Vilafortuny stands out due to its significant demographic evolution, and it is now a neighborhood within the municipality of Cambrils.
Location
Located in the southwest of the Camp de Tarragona, in the lowest part of the plain and adjacent to the sea, it has an area of 34.76 km². The surface is mostly flat, with a slight slope of 2% on average, from north to south. The maximum height does not exceed 70 meters above sea level. As for the average height of the urban area, it is located at 14.6 meters above sea level (at the railway station). The municipal term of Cambrils borders the sea and the municipal terms of Mont-roig del Camp (to the west), Montbrió del Camp and Riudoms to the north, and Vila-seca and Salou to the east. Interestingly, the municipal term of Vinyols i els Arcs (located between Montbrió and Riudoms) penetrates in a triangular shape into the central area of Cambrils and practically divides it in two.
History
Prehistoric era: The population dates back to prehistoric times. In Cambrils, the remains of one of the oldest agricultural and livestock neolithic communities in the Peninsula have been found, in the Cavet archaeological site and area.
Iberian era: Cambrils was integrated into the territories of the Cossetans Iberians. The Cossetans or Cessetans were the people who inhabited the Camp de Tarragona at that time, in relation to Kesse (or Tarakon), an ancient Iberian settlement in Tarragona. In its term, only one place has been found that has exclusively given Iberian ceramics, which allows for the hypothesis of an indication of a small inhabited nucleus: the Castle of Vilafortuny.

Roman era: In Catalonia, this is the period following the Iberian period, and it began in the 3rd century BC with Romanization and ended with the invasion of the Visigoths. In Cambrils, important Roman remains have been found in various locations, which shows that its term was heavily populated. Some of these Roman remains have been located in the Cap de Sant Pere area (ruins of buildings), the Pujada de na Ponsa area (ruins of buildings), the Tallats area, Mas d'en Bosc, the Masos area, and the Esquirols area (remains of Roman villas), burials in the Parellada area (Av. del Mil·lenari; C/ de Gaudi), milestones along the Via Augusta, which runs through the entire Cambrilenc term, etc. The most significant site is the Roman villa of la Llosa. Located at the beginning of the 1980s, excavation campaigns are ongoing and not yet complete, but it has been determined that it existed
