The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988) is a slapstick comedy directed by David Zucker and stars Leslie Nielsen as the clueless but confident Lt. Frank Drebin.
Drebin, a bumbling detective with the Los Angeles Police Squad, uncovers a plot to assassinate Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to the U.S. The villainous businessman Vincent Ludwig (Ricardo Montalbán) plans to use mind control to carry out the attack. Along the way, Drebin falls for Ludwig’s assistant Jane Spencer (Priscilla Presley) and repeatedly causes chaos while trying to save the day.
Co-starring George Kennedy as Captain Ed Hocken and featuring a memorable appearance by O. J. Simpson as Detective Nordberg, the film is packed with visual gags, absurd misunderstandings, and deadpan humor, making it one of the most iconic parody comedies of the 1980s.
