Saturday Security Stories: 5 Stages of a Data Breach Response

Описание: I'm Peter with Cradlepoint and this is your Saturday Security for April 6th, 2024. Over the years, I've noticed a pattern in data breach responses. And so, these are the Five Stages of a Data Breach Response.
First is Denial: No way. Didn't happen. We're confident our critical infrastructure was not compromised by the attack.
Next is Anger: All right. Fine. We were hit, but it was a highly sophisticated threat actor using a highly sophisticated technique.
Next is Bargaining: We would like to offer our impacted customers two years of free credit monitoring service.
Next is Depression: We would like to reassure our customers and partners that we take security seriously. We have thoroughly reviewed the incident and have implemented procedures to ensure it never happens again.
And Acceptance: Well, just goes to show you no one is immune. It's not a matter of if, but a matter of when.
