Plott Balsam My Final Summit SB6K Ep 13

Описание: This is my Final summit for the South Beyond 6000, The first time to this mountain range I had to turn around at Lyn Lowry due to it getting dark on us. So I saved the summit of Plott Balsam for another time. This time came on December 31, 2019. My friend Steve came along with me as he's beginning his SB6K challenge soon.

We started the day at the parking lot of Waterrock Knob and hiked up to the summit of Waterrock, then we went over to Browning Knob to check out the airplane crash site. We hiked over a few more peaks between 5500 and 6000 feet until we came the giant cross on Lyn Lowry. We stood there in awe and snapped many photos. Me I was looking at that large mountain way over there....That was Plott Balsam our lunch spot for the day. We took a steep trail down from the backside of the Cross and ended up on a fire road/logging road. we followed that until we came to the base of Plott Balsam. We started looking for a route that will lead us to the summit. We found a faint trail and started following it about halfway up Plott Balsam we found a few markers/flags so we knew we were on the correct track.
We found the highest point and sat down in the sunshine for a quick bite to eat. We did take a few photos while on the summit as proof of us being there.
Then we began our hike back.

My 40/40 South Beyond 6000, so many feelings so many wonderful experiences. I'm so glad that I did this challenge. This may be my favorite one yet. I will be revisiting many of the 40 summits in the coming months.
