Amazing Scenic Otis Traction Elevators @ The Hyatt Regency in San Francisco, CA

The Hyatt Regency in San Francisco right next to Embarcadaro Center is known for having some awesome elevators. Designed by John Portman, the hotel is 17 floors tall with 5 Otis traction elevators. These elevators are scenic, featuring the rare Otis Series 3 fixtures and otherwise look similar to the ones at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta.

I am happy I got the chance to check these out for myself. If you've seen other videos of these, then you'll know that these were unlocked all the way up to 14. 15 and above required a room key. Sadly, these are now completely locked off above the atrium level (they probably did it when they added on the Bay Level). However, even though they're locked, they are still very fun to ride, and I did enjoy these awesome elevators. They run well, complete with lots of mechanical bells, chimes, rare fixtures, and awesome views.

Side note: I believe these are going to be modernized by Otis in the near future. The service elevator has been modernized (that will be my next video from SF), and the lobby elevator to the ballroom levels is under modernization as well. In addition, one of the glass elevators was out of service, so I fear these are on the chopping block, which is a real shame.
