"If you're shipping a product to, let's say, from Mexico into the United States, do you have to provide a USMCA certificate? Yes, in order to claim USMCA, upon import into one of the three members of countries, you do have to have a USMCA Certificate of Origin on file when you claim. If you don't have a USMCA Certificate of Origin on file on the day that you claim, US Customs; Canada customs; Mexico customs could invalidate that claim and require you to pay the duties that were avoided as a result of that claim and then possibly issue penalties on top of that."
