At New Relic, log parsing refers to the process of pulling out attributes (key:value pairs) from your unstructured log data. You can use these attributes to search for and query logs in more practically useful ways, which in turn helps you build better charts and alerts. Parsing specific attributes from log messages allows you to plot those attributes separately or group your log messages by those attributes. You can also use the processed attributes for alerting purposes.
